Chess variant where the white queen is replaced by a fairy chess piece, the chancellor (rook-knight compound), and White has four knights and no bishops. Black has queen, four bishops and no knights.

Otherwise the rules of chess apply, with the following difference:

• Pawns can promote to any piece which that side had at the beginning of the game (except pawn and king).

Notes

The two sides have different possibilites, strategies.

Black has the advantage that the bishops are usually slightly more valuable than the knights (like the queen than the chancellor), especially in the endgame. On the other hand, White has advantage in the opening, being able to rapidly castle and develop the pieces.
